At approximately 6am this morning I heard Max yelling from his bed, "Cho-cho broke! Cho-cho broke! No Nanny (our dog Anna)! Cho-cho broke!" So, I asked him after we woke up a bit if he was dreaming this morning. Max said, "Yes."
"What were you dreaming about?" I asked.
"Nanny me on cho-cho. Cho-cho broke." he replied.
"Wow," I said, "were you scared?"
"No," Max said and looked at me cautiously.
"I heard you yelling, 'Cho-cho broke,' this morning and was wondering what you were dreaming. Were you and Nanny okay?"
"Yes. Nanny cho-cho broke." Then he went back to eating his eggs.

So interesting that he even knew he was dreaming and that he could then recall a piece of it, the piece I had heard him yelling about. Crazy! I thought for sure he wouldn't know what I was asking him because the idea of a 'dream' is so abstract, but he got it. And, the other night he woke up screaming his head off and neither Isaac nor I could calm him down. He was rolling on the floor, yelling, crying, hitting us, and this went on for a good 15 minutes until Isaac came out and picked him up. I thought he was possessed he was so crazy out of control. It was kinda scary and he's done this a few times. I think he's in a really bad dream and has a hard time coming out of it.
So, the next morning I asked him if he remembered being so upset last night. (yes) Then I asked if he remembered what he was so upset about. (I was mad at mommy.) Ouch. I asked him why he was mad at me. (no response) So, I asked if he was still angry this morning. (no) Then he turned and hugged me. So cute and amazing that he could recall what he was feeling at that moment several hours before in his fit of rage. Wow.
